Founder and College Recruiting Liaison
Stephen Winters serves as Founder and College Recruiting Liaison, bringing extensive coaching experience, national connections, and a deep understanding of the college recruiting landscape.
Stephen attended the University of Kansas, where he began his coaching career as a first-year intern under legendary coach Roy Williams, gaining early exposure to high-major college basketball operations and recruiting. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a minor in Coaching and later completed his MBA in 2010.
In 2011, Stephen founded the San Diego Sharks, growing the program into one of the largest and most competitive club basketball organizations in Southern California, with a strong emphasis on college placement and exposure. His high school coaching experience includes serving as head varsity coach at NUA, time on staff at Mater Dei Catholic, and a transformational run at O’Farrell Charter, where he rebuilt the program into a league champion and CIF semifinalist, compiling a 60–19 record over three seasons.
Stephen’s impact in coaching and recruiting has been widely recognized. He was named Summit League Coach of the Year (2019), selected by Times of San Diego as one of the Top 10 Most Underrated Local Coaches (2021), recognized by San Diego Basketball Reviews (2022) as a leading figure in college recruiting, and selected as one of the Top 100 Grassroots Directors in 2026 by Silverwave.
As College Recruiting Liaison, Stephen works directly with athletes and families to navigate the recruiting process—connecting players with college coaches, identifying the right level and fit, and helping maximize opportunities at the NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO levels.
